Don’t forget the 4th Annual Achievement Center of Texas Annual Golf tournament.  This year it is on October 11, 2010, shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. at Prestonwood Country Club – Hills Course, 6600 Columbine Way, Plano, TX (off of Marsh Lane and north of Plano Parkway.) Wow, it was another great night for the Achievement Center of Texas.  Everyone had a great time and Ira Terrell was a great sport.  Several people were able to have their picture taken with Ira.  It’s very interesting to watch him get down on his knees to be at eye level with a special needs person or anyone else for that matter.  He certainly towers above everyone.  Granted there weren’t a lot of pro basketball players in the audience for comparison but Ira stands up and above for ACT.  Thank you Ira for being our 2010 Champion Who Cares.

Thanks to all of the volunteers from the center, Delta, Jasper National Honor Society and Benchmark Mortgage who helped Linda, Caryl and Roberta.  It certainly helped everything go more smoothly.

Our event certainly would not have been so successful without the continued support of Benchmark Mortgage.  Thanks  Bryan, Stewart, Jim & Raz!

Call Linda for your tickets! Time is running out because the gala is a week from today. The auction is shaping up and there will be lots of fun for everyone.

The event is quickly approaching.   All of our volunteers are as busy as little beavers working to get everything just right!  You’re welcome to join us.  Tickets are $100.00 each.  There will be lots of prizes and activities and a sit-down dinner will be served. We already have some great stuff lined up for the silent auction but we can always use more.  We are going to have a special focus on retro and antique items this year so if you have any of those items you’d like to donate, please contact Linda, Caryl or the Achievement Center of Texas office for additional information.

The invitations are being mailed out soon.  If you know anyone with interest in attending, please let Linda or Marilynne know right away!

Rumor has it that Jason Garrett, Dallas Cowboys Offensive Coordinator is checking his schedule and checking it twice to see if he will be able to attend.  When we know, we’ll post it here!

ACT Reusable Shopping Tote Bag

Last year we sold a lot of reusable shopping totes with the ACT Logo as a fundraiser.  We have more!  If you’re interested call Theresa at the center and she will give you the details. 100% of the money paid for the remaining bags will go directly to the center because we’ve more than paid for the bags and now we’re in clear profit territory.  Let’s sell out!

These bags are large, durable, reusable and will hold a lot of groceries or other goods.

If you attended the Special Arts Festival in Garland, you saw the bags. I’m posting a picture of the display from the Annual Golf Tournament BBQ which was held at the center.
